SyncUp is a free platform that lets you watch videos in sync with friends. It works with YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and thousands of other video sites. Create a room, share the code, and everyone sees the same thing at the same time.
Yes. The basics are free: rooms, sync, chat, playlist voting, friends, watching YouTube, Twitch and Kick. Free rooms hold up to 5 people. There's an optional Plus plan if you want bigger rooms or longer voice chat, but you don't need it.
Plus lifts the room cap from 5 to 50, removes the 1-hour daily voice limit, keeps your rooms and playlists around forever (instead of 30 days inactive), lets you upload bigger video files, and unlocks extras like custom room branding, passwords, and chat GIFs. If one person in the room has Plus, the bigger room cap applies to everyone in that room.
No account required to start watching. You can create and join rooms as a guest. Creating an account lets you save your rooms and access them later.
When someone plays, pauses, or seeks the video, everyone in the room follows along automatically. Room hosts can control who has permission to control playback. The sync happens in real-time through your browser, no extensions needed.
YouTube, Twitch, Kick, and thousands of HTML5 video sites work natively in SyncUp. For streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and other DRM-protected sites, install our free browser extension to enable synchronized playback.
Yes! SyncUp has built-in subtitle support. Subtitles are auto-extracted when available, and anyone in the room can upload their own SRT, VTT, or ASS/SSA files to share with the group. Each viewer can customize subtitle size, font, and style to their liking — your preferences are saved across sessions.
