The SyncUp browser extension enables synchronized playback on streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and other DRM-protected sites. Everyone in your watch party sees the same moment at the same time.
Which browsers support the SyncUp extension?
The extension is available for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, Brave and Safari. On Safari it is a direct download rather than a store listing: open the disk image, drag SyncUp for Safari to Applications, open it once, then turn it on in Safari > Settings > Extensions. Safari also asks per website, so click the SyncUp icon in the toolbar once and choose Always Allow on Every Website. Needs Safari 18.4 or newer.
Is the browser extension free?
Yes, the SyncUp browser extension is free to use. SyncUp itself has an optional Plus plan for bigger rooms and longer voice chat, but the extension works the same on free or Plus.
Do I need an account to use the extension?
No account is required to use SyncUp or the extension. Just install and start watching together.
Which streaming services work with the SyncUp extension?
The extension works with Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Paramount+, Crunchyroll, and most other streaming services. Each viewer needs their own subscription to the service.
Do I need the extension for YouTube or Twitch?
No! YouTube, Twitch, Kick, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, and thousands of other HTML5 video sites work directly in SyncUp without any extension. The extension is only needed for DRM-protected streaming services.
Is my data safe with the SyncUp extension?

Can I use the extension on mobile?
Mobile browsers don't support extensions, so the SyncUp extension requires a desktop browser. However, SyncUp works on mobile for YouTube, Twitch, Kick, SoundCloud, YouTube Music, and other non-DRM content without any extension.
